Net HIV/AIDS

Net HIV/AIDS Youth Project is a registered organisation classified as an N.P.O. with the Department of Social Services.

Location
The project is situated approximately 30km to the south of Johannesburg in a squatter camp called Sweet Waters.

Sustainability:
Net HIV/AIDS works in accordance with the SA government's comprehensive plan for care, management and treatment of HIV/AIDS strategy. The project's main objective is to continue tackling other challenges that face the communities we are serving, especially where children are involved or victimised.

2008/09 Strategic Plan
We will be starting a bakery project in order to feed and generate income.

We also do have a brick-making project. We have seen the successful renovation of the old garage that has been transformed into a better bigger creche. This is going to help us with accommodation problems that we have been facing over the years. The building is made possible by Wits Medical School.

Introduction of a community clinic at the center, managed by Wits Medical School will not only help the children but also the community at large. This is also going to help us cut transport costs to the hospital for simple illnesses that can be treated at the center.

We request help for general medication sponsorships in order to make this a great success.

The bakery project is also going to make a very big impact feeding the children. We will sell the bread to the community at a reasonable price in order for it to generate income.

We would also like to see more of our children studying maths and science.

The center has been offering free computer skills, but we are in need of computers in order for it to have a massive impact. More jobs will be created for people in the communities to be able to support themselves.

The organisation has put more children into schools. We are expecting the number to grow. We strongly believe that education is the key to the future. We do not want HIV/AIDS to be a stumbling block into our children's lives. Life will always be life, no matter what - they will always have our support.

Despite being a youth managed organisation we have strived to do the best. We do not look upon our government for help, instead we create things for ourselves to serve our communities at large.
