Net HIV/AIDS
Net HIV/AIDS Youth Project is a registered organisation classified as an N.P.O. with the Department of Social Services.
Location
The project is situated approximately 30km to the south of Johannesburg in a squatter camp called Sweet Waters.
Sustainability:
Net HIV/AIDS works in accordance with the SA government's comprehensive plan for care, management and treatment of HIV/AIDS strategy. The project's main objective is to continue tackling other challenges that face the communities we are serving, especially where children are involved or victimised.
Updates
03 /12/10 - Christmas Party
Msweli Industrial Project Hosted one of the biggest Christmas party ever. More than 250 kids were showered with presents and food was also served. Father Christmas handed the presents to the kids. We kindly thank everyone who contributed towards the party. It was real nice seeing smiles on the faces of every child that was present.
07/12/10 - Car Donation
Mr. Tim Edwards donated the organization with a VW Caravelle TDI. The car has also come as a blessing to the us, since it will be used for transporting kids to and from schools and hopitals. This will help with the transport back log that we have. Jacque went to pick the car on our behalf and he handed the keys to me at MIP offices. On its arrival at the center there was a great applause. To everybody at the center. We proudly thank Mr. Tim Edwards for this Christmas present.
10/12/10 - Gold Reef City
Jacque organized trip for the kids to Gold Reef City. The kids were given an opportunity to a nice time were they had some rides . They also had launch and were showed with cold drinks. It was a fun day out for the kids after spending the entire year at the center. More than 65 kids were taken to Gold Reef City.
Strategic Plan for 2011 – 2012
We will be moving house to a more secure place . A place safe for the kids and more friendly. This will be made possible by Mr. Tim Edwards and Mr Roedolf du Toit of MIP. Proper infrastructure will be put into place. The orphanage will house more kids than its previous
number that was limited due to space shortage. A Professional Germany Dr. will be overseeing the welfare of the kids. In the pipe line will also be a school at the center. This school will serve the communities around. It will be a well equipped school . We at Net we strongly believe at promoting education towards the under previlaged. Education is the main key future to every child , since we are very aware that every child has a right to education.
The school will also have a library and a Toy Library. Children from child headed families will be provided with school uniforms . Feeding scheme will be provided to all the children who visit the center. We will also assist children to have grants ans well as birth certificates.
Services Provided
Drop – in center for all the children in need of care and support Medical check ups to the hospital. Transport available for free. Referrals to the rightful institutions. Early Introduction to Maths, Science & English. Support children with educational studies up to Matric. Sports activities. Chess Torturing.
By doing so this will help us grow a happy childhood of every child that we serve at the center.
Care Givers
Our dedicated staff of Care Givers are in need of four Laptops that will be used by the field workers for reporting and evaluating patients during their home visit. Laptops will help them not to lose their work as they normal do with the papers that some times get wet during rainy seasons. The organization has 10 care givers at present of which over the year of 2011 we will recruit 10 more care givers.
Nnini's Thought. As a mother myself , I do believe in caring for the children. For the past 10 years. I has seen the worst and I have also seen the best. We have lost some along the way especial in 2010. The reason has been that most of the children that have been brought to the orphanage were already very ill. Them recovering was very difficult.
I never gave up on them at all as I have motherly love. It pains me every time we lose a child. I truly thank God for giving me strength to carry on. With the support of my Husband I have become even more strong.
Every day is a bright day to us all. What makes me happy is the dedicated team that we have . We go through without any funds yet none has given up this year. This proved that it is not all that about money , but it is about saving the children and the communities at large. We give them hope and they give us strength. In God we trust that we will win the war at the end.
